Violence towards sensory impaired children and young people

The Open Interaction Association in Sofia is organising a national project's logo competition for children aged 9-18. More info about the competition is available underneath in Bulgarian.

During the project "Violence  linked to sensory impaired people" Open Interaction Association cooperate with other bureaus involved in the problem.

The project "Violence Linked to Sensory Impaired People" under the "Daphne III" of the Directorate General Justice, Freedom and Security of the European Commission aims to attract and engage EC aims to turn the public attention to issues of violence linked to sensory impaired people. Under this initiative NGOs from UK, Poland and Bulgaria organized a series of events designed to inform the public and professionals on the subjects of auto-aggression, violence towards women and towards children with sensory impairments.

ANNOUNCES 

 

NATIONAL COMPETITION FOR CHILDREN'S DRAWINGS ON: 

 

Stop the aggression in school


GOАLS:

1. Introduction of the participating children and youth with the theme, goals and priority areas for Daphne III - Prevention and combating violence linked to children, young people and women; protect victims and groups in risk to the Directorate General Justice, Freedom and Security of EC.

2. Through the visual arts to provide interest and raise wareness of issues related to aggression on children with sensory impairments. 

3. To encourage the creation of an atmosphere of tolerance in the schools where children with sensory impairments are teached.


4. To awaken desire in the participating children and youth for acceptance and inclusion of their peers with sensory disabilities.

Eligibility:

1. The competition is open to pupils aged 6 to 18 years, divided into three age groups:

• I Group  - 6 to 9 years old;
• II group - 10 to 14 years old;
• III Group - 15 to 18 years old.


2. Dimensions of painting: not greater than 35/50, no mount;

3. Technique: a choice of participants, such as pastels, watercolors, tempera, oil on canvas, mixed techniques, etc.

4. Artworks must not contain scenes of violence.

5. Each drawing must be accompanied by the following data on participants, written on the back of the artwork:

• name and surname;
• age;
• location, school;
• address (post code, location, address, telephone). 

  • AWARDS:

    The winners in National Competition for children's cartoon "STOP aggression in school”, ranked first in each age group will receive prizes and the schools they represent will be supported with books, equipment from project VILSIP, financed by the program "Daphne III" of the Directorate General Justice, Freedom and Security Commission of the total value of BGN 3000, allocated as follows: 

    Deadline for receipt of drawings: 30 of November 2009
    Works received after the above deadline will not be considered as part of the competition, but may be included in the subsequent exhibition.
